With every commission we look forward to the outcome. Once the details have been arranged, we step aside and the magic begins.
In 2022 the artists at Heart were both challenged, and given great opportunities in equal measure. Here we have showcased some of the projects in a Year in Review.
Lucinda worked on site at River Cottage, drawing chef and activist Hugh Fearnley Whittingstall. Manshen created 12 covers for the revered literary magazine MengYa. Serenity is conveyed in Harriet’s work for Korinkyo hotel in Japan. Mari's children’s book Bedtime for Bo was selected for The New York Times / New York Public Library Top 10 list of best illustrated children’s books of 2022. Jimmy created a clothing collection for Neuw Denim featuring artwork exploring future language systems. Yann’s drawings from his work on the set of C’mon C’mon were published in a book by A24, edited by Mike Mills. These are just some of the projects we are very proud of.
At the end of the year it was announced that Marc had been awarded ‘La Grande Ourse’ by Salon Livre et Presse Jeunesse, an accolade which recognises the work of a creator who has made a lasting impression on children's literature.
Thank you to all our clients.

Menga Ya
A selection from a year long commission to create twelve covers for the Chinese literary magazine
“I can hardly remember which came earlier, I was attracted to Manshen's work from Heart Agency and I fell in love with the cover illustration the first time I saw Sally Rooney's new book. Working with Manshen made me appreciate the wonderful encounter this job can bring. Manshen's artworks capture many of the subtle emotions that characterise the younger generation, and at the same time with a warm nostalgic touch. So there is no surprise that these works resonate strongly with our readers. And the gift of capturing the invisible things is most valuable in literature, painting and life”

101 Dogs An Illustrated Compendium of Canines
“We had been a fan of Romy’s work for some time, and we knew she could capture the personality of each breed in a very unique way. Romy’s art and palette really expressed the joyful element we were seeking, but she was also able to bring a unique blend of stylish depiction and interesting textures, giving the book a strong and original identity. It was fantastic to work with someone experienced and confident in their own style, but unafraid to push their own boundaries and try new ideas”
